Step 1 : YOUr personal goals set up

While many companies start by outlining the company objectives, our 3-step process starts by focusing the associate on “YOUr personal goals” first. Our findings revealed that this inward session gets associates to reflect on their own goals and ambitions before considering external factors like the company. For some, this was the first time anyone asked them what they wanted from their career and work life. This “listening session” created a positive, open dialog that allowed team members to express their needs in a safe and confidential manner. The outcome is a personalized list of objectives that each associate needs from their career.

Step 2 : OBSERVE company and team objectives

This step seems obvious yet our findings revealed that many associates didn’t have a clear picture of what was the main purpose of their team and how their daily work impacts the company as a whole. This makes sense as many subject matter experts (SMEs) are focused on their tasks, facing the unknown to achieve success that they don’t often have the means to realize the impact of what their accomplishments will have on the company. In fact, many leave that kind of thinking to the managers and simply maintain a specific view of their impact on a project rather than the company as a whole. This segment of the 3-step process gets them to the see the “forest from the trees”, sometimes for the first time in a way that is relatable to their everyday work lives.
